David 'Admiral' Nelson
We regret to announce the death of David Nelson from a stroke on Tuesday 13th March and extend our deepest condolences to his family at this time.
David came to the club having never rowed on water before. He was the ideal member who put twice as much into the club as he took out. He redesigned and rebuilt the racking system in the boathouse. He was always on hand to tow the coastal boat 'Endymion' to events, and sometimes take other boats as well. He was also exemplary in his commitment to training, both himself and the crews which he formed round him. This rewarded last year with a win in the Eddystone Challenge, the first oar-powered boat to finish and with a mixed crew! He played a big part in making the merger of the sculling section with the main club a success, enticing many gig and seine boat rowers to have a go in Endymion. He helped on almost all the novice nights last year, giving maybe 100 people a taste of sculling. I hope we can live up to his inspiration in the future.
Mike Cullen, Chairman sculling section.

Stormy Trip to Fishstock for Endymion
Stormy trip to Fishtock
"Teign Scullers is a small 'fine boat' rowing club which was set up in 2004. We have always had a philosophy in the club of taking the elitism out of sliding seat rowing and making the sport enjoyable to all.
New rowers wanting to try out fine boat rowing are always very welcome and should contact the club to arrange an outing. The training tub is ready for rowing and, when the warmer weather comes, would be a great boat for people to learn in.
The other thing that I find very exciting is the way club members are willing to share their talents and skills and this has created a mood of cooperative ownership."
